Tutorial : applying titles

step 3 - Titles Pane : text movement

Once the text looks the way you want it, set your title in motion by selecting a motion style in the pane just above the font selector. Experiment to find a motion style that you like. Keep in mind that styles that end in Multiple allow you to add a second line of text in the text entry box at the bottom of the pane.

Adjust the motion settings to your preference. The Speed slider adjusts how fast your title appears and the Pause slider determines how much time the title remains on screen after the motion is completed.

For this tutorial we selected Gravity and set Speed and Pause to their maximal values.

Press the Preview button to see your title in the Monitor.

step 4 - Apply Title

After you are satisfied with your title, apply the title to your clip in the timeline by clicking on the name of the Motion Style you selected for the title and dragging it down to the clip you are applying the title to. When you drag over the clip in the timeline a plus sign will appear under the mouse pointer, release and the new title will render.

Note that if your timeline clip has a longer duration than your title, the rest of the clip will be cut and become a separate clip in the timeline.

Once the rendering is complete you can preview your handiwork, if you need to make changes select the clip and change the settings in the Title Pane.
