Tutorial : your own motion graphics

step 5 - Apply More Effects!

If you want a really smooth look you can apply the Soft Focus effect on top of the other effects you have already applied. The Soft Focus effect is handy for adding a bright haze to a clip. We used the settings as shown in the image at the right.

When things look right, hit the Apply button again.

If you decide you don't like one of the effects you have applied you can remove it by pressing the delete key while your clip is selected in the timeline. Deleting numerous times removes the effects applied before the last one to be deleted.

Feel free to experiment with other effects to get a look that is truly unique. Besides effects, you can apply text shapes through the Title pane to add even more motion to your background. You can also change the look of your motion graphics by adjusting the speed of the clip through the rabbit/tortoise slider at the bottom of the iMovie window.

step 6 - Finished Results

Feel free to experiment with the effects in different combinations. You can essentially get the clips to conform to the look and feel of most iMovie projects.

You can see the difference between the clips in our example on the right. The top image was the Flying Fractals clip unaltered. In the bottom image, you can see that the clip has a totally new look to it.
